A question of rights

While I agree wholeheartedly with writer Marshall Thompson in applauding the crackdown on loud motorcycles, I must take issue with his comparison of the offending motorcyclist with an NRA member or law-abiding American gun owner.

The analogy is completely inappropriate. American citizens are guaranteed the right to bear arms. Motorcyclists do not have the right to spew loud gratuitous noise, which infringes on other citizens’ legal right to peaceful enjoyment of their property.

My thanks to the sheriffs for ridding Malibu of this terrible noise problem. Please do not stop enforcement. We demand peace and quiet.
