Point Mugu State Park faces potential closures due to heavy rains predicted this weekend, according to California State Park officials.
The 2013 Spring Fire burned more than 12,000 acres of Point Mugu State Park Land, leaving large bare areas of steep hillsides and valley formations in the Sycamore and La Jolla watersheds, said Angeles District Supt. Craig Sap. These areas have a potential for rock slides and debris flows to develop because of the lack of vegetation in the area, along with the predicted rain.
Closing portions of the park would be done in order to protect the resources and the park visitors.
