Brief: City offering disaster response training course

The City of Malibu and the Los Angeles County Fire Department are offering a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course. The course will be a series of four Saturday classes taking place Oct. 20, 27 and Nov. 3, 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Malibu City Hall.

According to a release from the city, the purpose of the CERT is to help the community by providing assistance during emergencies in Malibu as well as to promote disaster and emergence awareness to local residents. The CERT classes cover fire suppression, light search and rescue, medical classes and other areas of emergency preparedness.
