Hazardous surf and wind advisories issued in Malibu

Hazardous surf, strong rip currents and winds of up to 35 MPH are projected to hit Malibu and surrounding Los Angeles areas through early Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. 

A coastal flood statement, effective 2 p.m. Tuesday until Wednesday at 4 a.m., projected dangerous ocean conditions and strong rip currents amid strong gusts. Tide should peak at 4 feet this afternoon 5 five feet tomorrow morning. 

Officials also issued a wind advisory beginning at 2 p.m. Tuesday and lasting through 7 a.m. Wednesday, forecasting hazardous driving conditions amid gusty winds between 25 and 35 MPH in the hardest hit parts of Los Angeles. The gusts could also affect air travel and impact those planning on early holiday trips Tuesday night. 

A high of 59 degrees is expected in Malibu on Tuesday with a nighttime low of 42 degrees.
