As a bicyclist, riding a non-motorized vehicle under the California Vehicle Code, I have been disturbed by the high number of motorists who do not follow the rules of the road. While many do obey the vehicle code, just as many do not.
They run red lights, do not stop at stop signs and turn in front of cyclists who have the right away even though the law is clear about what is safe and what is not. Bicyclists become frustrated and rude in turn, and this leads to ugly confrontations, not just here in Malibu, but everywhere. Motorists who believe the Vehicle Code was written only for vehicles with motors should confine their driving to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
