Wilfred Marvin Wood died May 30. He was 84.

Wood was born April 6, 1927 in Newark, N.J. He served as a pharmacist mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later graduated from Florida Southern University.

Wood was working in banking in New Jersey where he met and married lifelong love Joyce Charleson. In 1959, the couple moved to Los Angeles and Wood began working for Security Pacific Bank, where he later became the vice president of trusts.

Wood and his wife lived in Malibu for more than 40 years.

Wood was a member of the Malibu Navy League and the Malibu Optimist Club. After retiring, he volunteered as a docent at the Malibu Lagoon Museum and attended Our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, particularly entertaining them with stories of his experiences.

Wood is survived by his daughter Dianne, his son and daughter-in-law David and Martha, his granddaughters Heather and Rebecca, and his nephew Richard Hoffman.

Services will take place June 18 at Our Lady of Malibu Church, 3625 Winter Canyon Rd., at 1 p.m.
