Sandra Lyon, superintendent of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD), has been named the Superintendent of the Year in the local region of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).
“I am so excited and thrilled for her,” said Laurie Lieberman, a member of the SMMUSD Board of Education, after hearing the announcement.
Lyon was commended by the ACSA for her outstanding leadership in the past year.
Region 14 is one of 19 regions into which the state of California is divided. In addition to the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, it covers 23 other districts and the community college districts and universities in Los Angeles County. She will now be nominated as Region 14’s nominee for State Superintendent of the Year by ACSA Region 14 President Katherine Castlebury.
