The City of Malibu has officially submitted a request for qualifications/proposal (RFQ/P) to move utility poles in lower Rambla Pacifico underground.
The request—officially titled “formation of lower Rambla Pacifico utilities undergrounding district”—would underground all “existing overhead electrical and communication utilities.”
As part of the required proposal, the interested firm must determine a boundary map and then “estimate special tax rates,” based on the map and undergrounding costs.
The proposal deadline is May 10, after which oral interviews will be conducted if necessary. A date has not been released as to when the city expects to approve and award a contract.
