Just weeks after walking across the stage at Alumni Park and receiving a diploma from Pepperdine University in Malibu, Daniel Tate was arrested and charged in Chester County, Pennsylvania, for an alleged bombing spree that targeted various locations in the rural Amish area. Tate was charged along with his twin brother, Caleb. The bombings, investigators said, occurred during the brothers’ winter breaks from college, at the end of December, 2015.
Various news reports state that the brothers detonated a total of five bombs across Chester and Lancaster counties at the end of last year, damaging an Amish phone shed, a well pump and an Amish produce shed. No injuries were reported due to any of the explosions.
Reports said the brothers were charged with felony charges of arson by explosives, arson by possession of explosive devices, conspiracy and theft.
Representatives from Pepperdine confirmed that Daniel Tate graduated in Spring 2016 with a bachelor of arts in psychology.
“His degree posted, so he’s out [of Pepperdine],” school representative Alexandra Forero said.
Since he is no longer a student, Pepperdine declined to comment further.
Pennsylvania-based news agencies reported the brothers were out on $25,000 bail.
