Palisades Village to reopen Aug. 15, marking major milestone in Pacific Palisades' recovery

Nearly 19 months after the devastating Palisades Fire forever changed Pacific Palisades, one of the community's most cherished gathering places is preparing to welcome residents and visitors back.

Palisades Village, the upscale open-air shopping, dining, and entertainment destination developed by Caruso, will officially reopen on Saturday, Aug. 15, signaling a major milestone in the ongoing recovery of the Palisades. The announcement comes after an extensive restoration effort that transformed the property following the January 2025 wildfire.

Originally opened in 2018, the approximately 125,000-square-foot village quickly became the heart of Pacific Palisades. Its walkable streets, landscaped courtyards, luxury boutiques, neighborhood restaurants, and the historic Bay Theater created a vibrant community destination that drew locals and visitors alike.

When the Palisades Fire erupted on Jan. 7, 2025, it devastated the surrounding community, burning more than 23,000 acres, destroying thousands of homes and businesses, and claiming multiple lives. While Palisades Village itself survived the fire thanks to its fire-resistant construction and coordinated firefighting efforts, the property sustained extensive smoke, ash, and debris contamination that required a complete environmental restoration before it could safely reopen.

Over the past year and a half, Caruso has invested more than $100 million into repairing and restoring the property. Many buildings were stripped down to their structural frames so crews could remove contaminated materials before rebuilding interiors with new finishes and modernized infrastructure. The extensive remediation effort has resulted in what company officials describe as a fully restored village that is ready to once again serve as the community's gathering place.

The reopening also reflects strong confidence in the future of Pacific Palisades. Palisades Village will reopen 99 percent leased, with most of its original retailers and restaurants returning alongside an exciting collection of new businesses.

Returning favorites include Loomey's Toys, K Bakery, elysewalker, A.L.C., Erewhon, Zimmermann, Brunello Cucinelli, Veronica Beard, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Porta Via, and Angelini Ristorante & Bar. Several new additions will also debut when the village reopens, including Spacca Tutto, an Italian steakhouse from acclaimed chef Nancy Silverton, the first West Coast location of fashion brand LESET, and Los Angeles favorites Violet Grey and Xirena.

To celebrate the reopening, Caruso plans to host a full day of community events, curated experiences, and festivities on Aug. 15. Additional details about the grand reopening celebration are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

In announcing the reopening, Rick Caruso, founder and executive chairman of Caruso, described the project as far more than the return of a shopping center.

"We promised to come back better than before the fires, and we did," Caruso said. "This is a moment to turn the page together. It's a comeback story for the history books and a love letter to Los Angeles."

For many residents, the reopening represents much more than restored storefronts. Since the fire, Pacific Palisades has continued the difficult work of rebuilding neighborhoods, restoring businesses, and helping families return home. While construction continues throughout much of the community, the return of Palisades Village offers a tangible symbol of hope and resilience.

As families once again stroll through its pedestrian-friendly streets, gather for meals, shop local boutiques, or enjoy an evening at the Bay Theater, Palisades Village is poised to reclaim its role as the social and cultural heart of Pacific Palisades — demonstrating that while recovery takes time, the community continues moving forward together.
