Shannon Tweed, Sophie Tweed-Simmons, CCH Pounder and Catherine Dent are among the notables who’ll be heading for the hills at Paramount Ranch this Saturday. They’ll be joining hundreds of breast cancer survivors, friends and family members at the 12th Annual Expedition Inspiration Take-A-Hike. Celebrity hosts will lead beginning, intermediate and advanced hikes to raise money for breast cancer research beginning at 9 a.m.

In addition to a day of fresh air, exercise and breathtaking panoramas, the fundraiser offers hearty breakfast fare and a live musical performance by Unkle Monkey. There will also be plenty of information on breast cancer prevention, physical fitness and nutrition.

“Take-A-Hike has a fantastic reputation and draws committed people of all ages who want to make a difference and have fun doing it,” Tweed said. “It’s the real deal-beautiful scenery, warm camaraderie and a great cause-saving lives. It doesn’t get much better than this.”

Event Chair Teri Roseman, a breast cancer survivor, expects a strong turnout of close to 1,000 hikers. Held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Take-A-Hike is designed to raise money and pay tribute to those who have fought the disease. Breast cancer affects one in every eight women in the United States and is the leading cause of death of women ages 35 to 54. Proceeds benefit the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center/ Lee Breast Center and the Expedition Inspiration Fun for Breast Cancer Research.

Pounder said she is delighted to be a part of the figure -friendly fundraiser. “What an inspiring event, and it’s perfectly tailored to health-conscious Angelenos,” she observes. “No sitting down on the job here! We’ll all be hiking together to make a difference.”

The 12th Annual Expedition Inspiration Take-A-Hike takes place Saturday at Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica National Recreation Area, 2903 Cornell Rd., Agoura. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:30 am. Hikes begin at 9:00 a.m. $25 preregistration; $30 registration day of event. More information can be obtained by calling 213. 486.4558 or online atwww.EITakeahike.org
