On May 19, The Malibu Woman’s Club awarded 11 scholarships to high school seniors and 16 writing awards to fifth-graders from four local elementary schools. The event took place at the Sunset Restaurant.
Each of the seniors received a $1,000 scholarship for scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and community service. Ten of the seniors were from Malibu High School and one attends Viewpoint School. The fifth-graders wrote essays with the topic “Water, water everywhere… but wait. How can we preserve and protect?” The first place winners were awarded $150 and second places winners received $75.
