The Malibu Sharks boy's basketball team improved its record to 5-1 with its 50-33 victory Friday evening over the South Bay Lutheran Waves. Senior forward Mick Dupre led the way for the Sharks with a double-double, scoring a team high 10 points and pulling in a team high 16 rebounds. Dupre also contributed three blocks, three steals and had a pair of assists. Senior guard Alex Beck also poured in 10 points for the Sharks while adding eight rebounds. Junior guard Daron Ravenborg came up just shy of a double-double for the Sharks with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

The Malibu Sharks girl's basketball team had its early season woes continue Friday evening with a 60-19 thrashing by the South Bay Lutheran Waves at Malibu. The Waves jumped out to a 35-13 lead at the half and then outscored the Sharks 19-0 in the third quarter to more than put the game away. The Sharks, who have had trouble getting things going early in the season, fell to 0-6 on the season with the loss. Freshman guard Emani Truluck led the Sharks with a team high 9 points. Sophomore guard Allison Sarmiento and junior forward Caitlin Gerard each chipped in four points for the Sharks. Sophomore center Zoe Deneau led the Sharks with six rebounds.
