The Boys & Girls Club of Malibu will host its second "Be Great" event featuring comedian Anand Chulani (pictured) and his Laugh Out Loud team at the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu on March 27 at 4 p.m.

As part of the Boys & Girls Club of America’s national “Be Great” campaign, the Malibu chapter has launched a series of local events to help local teens realize their potential, connect them with positive mentors and give them the tools needed to build character, confidence and leadership skills.

The event, entitled “Be Connected Through Laughter,” highlights Anand Chulani’s international program to empower teens to use laughter to build self-confidence, resolve conflict and create a deeper connection with one another. Through improvisational techniques, teens will receive tools to create laughter, and build confidence through comedy, in order to deepen their relationship with their friends, families and teachers.

Chulani, who trained at Second City and The Groundlings, and recently appeared on The “Oprah Winfrey Show” as a certified teacher of laughter yoga, developed the Laugh Out Loud method to put a positive spin on the pains and shyness of his own youth. His goal is to inspire teens to get out of their heads and into their hearts, so they can touch the lives of others through laughter.

The Boys & Girls Club of Malibu hosted its first “Be Great” event on Feb. 27 with renowned dog trainer Tony Rollins. Upcoming events include an afternoon with the Element skate team on April 24 .
