Malibu resident Peter Asher and his former co-singer Gordon Waller will perform at the Santa Monica Pier on Thursday. The duo, known as Peter & Gordon, recently reunited after 38 years. This will be their first performance in the Los Angeles area since their reunion.

The duo was the first to follow the Beatles to North American success during the British Invasion era, topping the charts in 1964 with the John Lennon/Paul McCartney song, “A World Without Love.” They appeared recently at a benefit concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall, where their performance of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s “I Want Love” received positive reviews.

Asher produced many James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt albums and managed them for years. He remains in the entertainment business today, most recently taking a position at Strategic Artistic Management. His clients include Pamela Anderson, Everclear and the Webb Sisters.

The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. It will also include a performance by fellow British Invasion hit-makers Gerry & the Pacemakers. For more information, call 310.458.8901.
