Lest we forget, Malibu is just a tiny portion of our country. Hence, it reflects a lot of what is going on in America. There’s much good. But I think we all have noticed by now that our country has gotten more corrupt. So how can Malibu escape corruption? It can’t because we’re all in this together.
This unfortunate incident of the Malibu Animal Hospital is just another “takeover.” Just like there have been “takeovers” going on for years throughout the country. Ever wonder where all those lovely little shops went? Or the special brand of food (or whatever) that you can’t find any longer? Or that nice person who owned that certain shop and treated you so special?
Then there’s the problem of rent. It’s no secret that rents in Malibu are high. Many merchants left or are leaving because of this. Although veterinarians have to pay their bills, too, many are benevolent toward their clients. There are many incidents where the veterinarian even did high cost procedures as a gift or at a lower cost. Imagine having to pay $12,000 per month (plus the rent on another building). It won’t be easy to be so generous!
It seems that things were done a bit underhanded with some blatant favoritism. I don’t think that one veterinarian should be looked upon as better than another, and this takeover gives the illusion that one is! There should be no “top” veterinarian. Some veterinarian’s personalities seem more compassionate than others, or may seem more businesslike. Different strokes for different folks. We need the variety, the choice. Most important, we need good and generous veterinarians with compassion who have respect for each other. This should have been done with much thought and the decision should have included all the local veterinarians. No takeovers! This isn’t an episode of “The Sopranos.”
