After speaking to many friends and neighbors in Malibu, I hope everyone will listen to their conscience and vote “no” on M. We are being rushed into deciding on this issue and I am far from confident that the council has he expertise required to make this decision for all of us by way of this agreement, which will affect Malibu for many years to come. Recently, I attended a meeting where individuals in favor of and in opposition to Measure M spoke. Due to much confusion surrounding this topic, I arrived at the meeting with an open mind. However, in a very short time, after listening to the speakers, and reading the provided literature, it became an ease decision to vote “no” on M. I was also troubled by one piece of literature in which Christi Hogin was listed as the author of the written “Impartial Analysis.” How can Malibu’s city attorney be considered “impartial” in the matter? This seems like a game of politics at its worst. Jeff Jennings, speaking in favor of Measure M, gave half answer to questions and didn’t seem to want to explain fully the details. Steve Uhring, speaking in opposition to he measure, gave articulate, informed responses to the same questions.
The Malibu Bay Company has spent a lot of time and money in trying to convince Malibu’s voters that this is the best thing for us. They’ve used misinformation, scare tactics and the like, assuming that voters aren’t informed enough to make an educated decision. I trust that Malibu’s voters will prove them wrong and turn out in force on Nov. 4 to vote “no” on Measure M. We can get amenities for the city and ballfields without selling our city’s soul to the Bay Company. I’ve lived here for two decades and aside from the natural beauty of the environment that we all enjoy, Malibu is also represented by those of us who live here. I hope that everyone will consider very carefully their vote. I am voting “no” on Measure M and urge all who truly care about Malibu to do the same.
