A pilot program to assist people living in vehicles and to reduce the hazards associated with vehicle dwelling has been approved by the L A County Board of Supervisors.

The California Coastal Commission meets today tomorrow and Friday… in Redondo Beach.

No specific Malibu-related items on the agenda.

But today … the commission will get a scientific report on ocean level rise and how seawalls … jetties and other hardening of the coastline Will affect beaches.

No specific action is anticipated today … but the coastal commission is now embracing a scary future … with a 10 foot ocean level increase over the next 80 years.

Teh L-A county coroner has publicly named the man whose body was found … up on Piuma Road in the mountains above Malibu.

His name … Roger Chavez Barahona … who was 19 years old.

He died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner’s office.

His body was found a week and a half ago … July 27 … on Piuma Road near Schueren Road.

That’s above Malibu Canyon … where a body was dumped earlier this year.

And there was a murder in the canyon … as widely reported …. of a camper earlier this summer.

Here’s the latest headlines on the California fire catastrophe.

In Orange County … the Holy Fire has burned over the top of the Santa Ana mountains … visible form Malibu on a clear day.

It’s now threatening homes west of Interstate 15 from Corona south to Lake Elsinore.

Voluntary evacuations in Glen Eden … and for the isolated cabins on the Ortega Highway.

34 hundred acres … 4 percent contained.

That’s the only fire in southern California.

North of San Francisco … the Mendocino fires are the biggest in state history.

It’s at 244 thousand acres … 20 percent containment.

At Yosemite … the Ferguson Fire … in its 27th day … 95 thousand acres … 43 percent containment.

The road to Ahwanee was reopened.

Tioga Pass is open … but Yosemite Valley is closed.

At Redding … the Carr fire … 180 thousand acres burned … 47 percent contained.

Seven dead there.

No fire in Los Angeles or Ventura counties.

Low tide is at 1:25 PM.

And a 6.4 foot high tide will crest tonight at 7:44 PM. ))))
