Ninety-five-year-old World War II veteran Martin Copenhafer recently attended a Malibu Navy League event where the September port visit of the USS Lake Champlain was announced. Copenhafer was pictured “holding court” on the Allied Invasion of Normandy, known as D-Day. Copenhafer was there on June 6, 1944 as the Quartermaster of a Naval Landing Craft.
