Regarding proceedings of the Malibu Republican Women’s Federated (reported April 10 in the story “Malibu Republicans worry about getting the vote out”).

As a former Goldwater Republican, I was perplexed how the speakers and the audience came to be united in the idea that electing Democrats would be financially disastrous for the country. Could it be that those anticipated big enchiladas went to their heads and they couldn’t shake the “stay the course” mantra?

Better still-someone was auditioning for Comedy Central.

Since I fled the GOP, statesmanship has reached a new level in the Party: From former Oklahoma State Senator Brooks Douglass, “I wouldn’t believe everything you saw in the media,” and he hasn’t (three trillion, recession, wmd/no wmd, green zone attacked, America lost its soul, torture and, sadly, four thousand), and from our own big enchilada California State Assemblymember Van Tran, “There’s plenty of other low hanging fruit.” Now that is statesmanship if I ever heard it; yes, come to California and admire our beautiful orange groves.

These guys are great-hey, I got it, “The Happy Enchiladas.”

SNL, are you out here? Have I got an act for you!
