The Malibu Art Association on April 5 will hold an opening reception for the juried art exhibition called ‘The Challenge of Colors.” Proceeds from the reception will help fund college scholarships for budding artistic talent.
The event will feature oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels and photography from approximately 20 artists and will be held in the Palisades Public Library Gallery, which is located at 861 Alma Real Drive in Pacific Palisades.
The opening reception will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to the public. Show hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit continues through May 2. For more information, call Maria Bleyberg at 310.454.4903.
This event’s special juror will be California landscape painter James Urmston, whose naturalistic panoramic moutainscapes reflect the beauty of the local area. Urmston taught for many years at UCLA and is currently on faculty at Santa Monica College. An active oil painter, he maintains a working studio in Los Angeles and shows his work in local galleries.
