Stuart Edwin Blue, age 91, was born in Los Angeles on February 22, 1935, to Harry and Ida Blue. After college, he worked as an Assistant to the Producer on the TV Show, “Queen for a Day”. He was drafted into the Army and served two years at the Presidio in San Francisco, and then went into the retail toy business with his brother, Earl, in the San Fernando Valley for 30+ years.

Stu loved all things “Boat”. He joined the Malibu Yacht Club and purchased a Malibu Outrigger to sail off the beach, and years later bought a Downeaster 32 and joined the Del Rey Yacht Club.

He built a 17’ Boston Whitehall Pulling Boat and circumnavigated Catalina Island during the Bicentennial with his wife and daughter. He was the original distributor of Ocean Kayaks in Malibu.

Stu designed and built the Seawind Cruising Shell, a 16’ fiberglass boat with a wooden seat and retractable outriggers, which won a design award from the Museum of Modern Art, and then sold the plans to a local boat company, who continued the sales. The shell was juried into an exhibition of well-designed manufactured products by the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.

In 1988, he and his wife bought a Latigo Cove beach house in Malibu and lived there joyfully until his death on March 1, 2026, after a long illness.

Stu is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Blue, his daughter, Jocelyn Blue, and his granddaughter, Jadyn Blue, and many adoring nieces and nephews.
