Jim Manera, director

New Year’s resolution: “Getting myself closer to the person I would like to be.”

World/view outlook: “The economy can only be strengthened by the nation’s choice in international affairs.”

On a personal level, Manera would like to be a better listener and more observant about others.”I’m happiest when I appreciate efforts I make as a man, husband and father.”

Mark Geller, Jewelry/art

storeowner and restaurateur

New Year’s resolution: “Consistently trying to be a better person by considering other people’s feelings.”

World/personal outlook: “We are moving in the right direction in terms of peace, remaining vigilant but with the right amount of patience the populace seems to demand.”

On the economy: “Self-gratification is still in vogue.”

Helena and John Tokatlian

Human resources, entrepreneur

New Year’s resolution: “Get in shape.”

World/personal outlook: Newlyweds, the Tokatlians are hoping for a peaceful resolution of the Middle East crisis and fear that war might be inevitable. “Our big concern is raising children in a safe world,” Helena says.

A human resource specialist, Helena is also concerned about job stability for working parents.

Dennis Maguire

Assistant Director

New Year’s resolution: Doesn’t have one. World/personal outlook: “Unfortunately, Americans have been lackadaisical about what is happening outside the United States. We are not spending enough time protecting our natural resources and our ports.”

Maguire is concerned about companies going outside the country to make movies. “I’ve seen a slow down.”

Jerry Waters

Retired attorney, writer

New Year’s resolution: “To be true to myself, free of my programming, living without a script.”

World/personal outlook: “I don’t like the potential of what my kids are facing.”

The President “needs a reality check.”

Waters is developing a stage play from his novel “Secrets of the Game.” “It’s going to be a good year for me.”

Bob and Noreen Mosier

Restores antique cars, homemaker

New Year’s resolution: “Practice compassion.” World/personal outlook: The Mosiers believe that the current unrest is an opportunity for ethical and economic growth. “We don’t believe in war to jump start the economy,” Bob says. “We ought to think about living more peacefully, not antagonistically.” “Think about developing new technologies, like electric cars or solar power,” Noreen says.
