Longtime Malibu resident Barbara Clark Wanbaugh passed away surrounded by her family on Feb. 1, 2015. Barbara was born on Sept. 15, 1932 in Toronto, Canada, and moved to Los Angeles as a child. She lived there until graduation from the USC, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Almost immediately after the graduation ceremony, she joined United Airlines as a stewardess.

Barbara met and married her husband, Navy pilot LTJG, Peter Wanbaugh, while he was stationed at NAS Alameda across the bay from San Francisco. They shared more than 50 years together.

Pete and Barbara moved to Malibu in 1974 where she joined a writers group and began writing scripts. In 1995, she sold a script for a movie “Breaking Free.” She also wrote many other scripts, including military action movies “Typhoon Trackers” and “Connie Down,” based on two of Peter’s adventures while flying in the Pacific.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Peter M. Wanbaugh. She is survived by her son, Jon Wanbaugh (Debi) of Costa Mesa, and Wendy Wanbaugh of Oak Park and four grandchildren, James, Brooke, Tea and Tyler.
