Malibu celebrates Earth Hour on Sat., March 23 from 8:30-9:30 p.m.

To mark the beginning of Earth Month, the City of Malibu is asking residents to turn off unnecessary lights during “Earth Hour” from 8:30-9:30 p.m. on Sat., March 23.

Symbolically, Earth Hour should convey a crucial message worldwide, according to the city’s Environmental and Sustainability Department.

By voting with our light switches, Earth Hour participants send a powerful, visual message demanding action on climate change,” a statement said. “The movement symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in this fight, protecting our future and that of future generations.”

Last year, more than 7,000 towns in 152 countries and territories switched off their lights for Earth Hour.
