Malibu’s Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson have been keeping a busy summer schedule.

Malibu’s Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson have had a busy summer. Tom’s been cranking out flick after flick while Rita has been getting ready to go back to her roots in preparation for a return to the stage.

Rita is gearing up for several performances at the Geffen Playhouse where she and pals like “American Beauty” Annette Benning and local lovely Roma Downey have made many a memorable evening.

Rita returns for her third performance of “Liner Notes.” Performances take place Sept. 7-17.

The limited engagement features songwriters, stories and music.

“Liner Notes” is performed in an intimate cabaret setting at the Audrey Skirball Theater at the Geffen. Special guest stars will be announced in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.

BLONDE AMBITION

Multitalented actress Charlize Theron is another familiar face in Malibu. She gets it and gives it right back in her new movie, “Atomic Blonde.” The super spy story is in theaters just in time for a little buttered popcorn before backpacks and back to school.

CT plays a killer M16 super-spy on assignment behind the Iron Curtain. Between the costumes, settings and a fist punching Charlize, it’s a must see if you love the ‘80s and action.

Locals Halle Berry and Jeremy Piven also have projects in the works.

SUMMER SOUNDS

Pop sensation Miley Cyrus has sent a Malibu love letter to her abode by the sea in the ’Bu.

She picked up a posh four-bedroom pad here for $2.5 million. Her move from the San Fernando Valley has been an inspiration captured in her recent release, “Malibu,” which is also said to be a loving tribute to fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

The song’s video features a romantic and beachy Miley on a beach romp singing, “I never would’ve believed you if three years ago you told me/I’d be here writing this song/But here I am next to you/The sky’s so blue in Malibu.”

HOCKNEY IN HEAVEN

Former Malibu resident and world famous artist David Hockney is celebrating his 80th birthday with a retrospective at the Getty. The U.K. artist found his inspiration in beachy scenes, midcentury swimming pools, portraits and even the California desert.

The English painter, draughtsman, printmaker, stage designer and photographer is an important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s he is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century.

With his wild imagination, images and soothing blue-hued tones, there’s no mistaking a Hockney.

His wonderful works can be seen on display at the Getty until Nov. 26.
