The results from the Malibu Coastal Vision community roundtables, surveys, meetings, interviews are now available for distribution. During the past year Malibu Coastal Vision, Inc. (MCV) held 21 roundtables, collected 150 surveys and hosted three guest speaker seminars. These events gave over 350 locals an opportunity to voice their opinions and observations in an apolitical and non-confrontational environment
The answers in the report “What Residents Say About Malibu” are based on compilation and analysis of the data from these round tables and surveys. There were over 10,000 pieces of information distilled into this 13-page report. One message stands out clearly and above all. Malibu citizens want to work together to craft a new, positive future for the community of Malibu. There is broad consensus about preservation of the scenic beauty and the small-town rural character of Malibu. These are most frequently mentioned as the prime reasons to live or work in Malibu. How to maintain and enhance the positive features of Malibu while accepting or encouraging change has resulted in divergent views. Furthermore, Malibu citizens have little mechanism for accomplishing what they desire other than expressing themselves in the local papers and in City Council meetings.
MCV is a non-profit, apolitical community based group whose mission is to provide educational opportunities and a process for citizens to more thoroughly participate in community long term planning. MCV operates autonomously while receiving financial support from the city and accepts donations from the public.
The results of the report will be presented to the City Council at their quarterly meeting on Wednesday, April 26. The report will be available after April 26 at www.malibucoastalvision.com, at the public library or can be requested by emailing rkd@perfdev.com.
