Demi Moore and hubby Ashton Kutcher make a stylish appearance at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball.

A HIGH FLYING FLING

Hollywood A-listers let their spirits soar at one of the summer’s hottest events, the seventh annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Eight-hundred VIPs and their pals gathered on the green at Susan Harris and Hayward Kaiser’s Mandeville Canyon estate .

Demi Moore shined in a teal-colored Gucci mini while hubby Ashton Kutcher sported savvy stripes. Katherine Heigl was pretty in pink, donning a body-hugging Escada cocktail dress topped off with a triple strand of long pearls. She was joined by her “Grey’s Anatomy” co-stars Eric Dane and Kate Walsh. Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller made their first public appearance as a married couple. Others in the starry crowd included Eva Mendes and Rebecca Gayheart.

After sipping citrus-infused martinis at the cocktail hour, the guests tucked into a tasty feast of ahi tuna tartare, mushroom risotto and sirloin steak. They were welcomed by SNL alum Chris Kattan, who stepped in as the evening’s emcee. The guests were then treated to a lively R&B performance by Grammy-nominated Keyshia Cole.

The event raised more than $1million for the Chrysalis organization. The nonprofit helps the homeless become self-sufficient through outreach programs and employment opportunities. Chrysalis started in 1984 with a food and clothing distribution center serving L.A.’s skid row. In 1994, it opened a center in Santa Monica and recently added facilities in the San Fernando Valley.

HOWDY PARTNER!

Dr. Frank Ryan put on his cowboy hat and helped round up big bucks for his Bony Pony Ranch Foundation for at-risk youth. He opened his 26-acre Malibu estate for a good ‘ol Western Round Up and Barbeque. Temps were sizzling way past the 100-degree mark, but that didn’t stop 450 kids from chowing down on great grub and enjoying a day of pony rides and carnival games in the great outdoors.

They also got an up-close look at the doc’s menagerie of country critters like Ozzie the Ostrich, Tonka the Buffalo and various horses, pigs and ponies. The host was well-prepared for the intense sun and heat with plenty of Bony Pony hats and sunscreen on hand.

For the older ones, Frank showcased some fabulous fashion courtesy of the Lisa Kline boutique. Grownups took refuge under the shade of massive green umbrellas while models strutted their stuff in some of summer’s hottest looks. When cooler temperatures arrived later in the afternoon, Western revelers jumped on stage and grooved to Deacon Jones’ blues band. Yeeha!
