Fourth of July means getting together with friends and family at Paradise Cove, where I grew up. And hanging out at the beach, having margaritas and fish tacos, and just enjoying each others’ company. Paradise Cove has really changed a lot over the last 40 years, but there’s still a lot of people there that I grew up with. It’s almost like having a reunion for me, I really go back there and see people that I grew up with. We make our camp and set up, and just have a great time.

Fourth of July means having fun in the ocean and visiting with my family friends. Every Fourth of July I go to my grandma’s house in Malibu and have fun at the beach, we watch the fireworks, have really good food, drinks, and people bring their dogs, it’s fun! Sometimes we build a big sand pit where everyone tries to jump over it, I like falling in the pit. This year I’m going to bring two or three friends to my grandma’s party.

As a kid it reminds me of fireworks shows, as an adult it reminds me of my father and father in-law, who served in our military. My father in-law Nick Damego is 91. He served in World War II, D-Day, Occupy Japan, and the Korean War. He really knew what sacrifice meant and what freedom cost. So I am reminiscent of what freedom costs as results of my father and father in-law, who served in the military and the men and women who serve now.
