The first Malibu bestseller lists of 2007 have the old and the new and, for children, that supreme combination of both: the series! Only two books on the children’s bestseller list are not in a series, the classics “Charlotte’s Web” and “Bridge of Terabithia.” The fiction list has some of the hits from last year (“Case Histories,” “Snow,” “The Inheritance of Loss”), a movie tie-in (“Notes On a Scandal”) and a new hot one getting a great deal of attention: “Him Her Him Again The End of Him,” by Patricia Marx.
For nonfiction, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s much-anticipated appearance at our store on Feb. 11 has propelled his wonderful new book, “On the Shoulders of Giants,” onto the bestseller list. Jimmy Carter is surprisingly controversial in his new book on that most contested place, “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid,” a book everyone is talking about. And top of the chart, “Grayson,” by Lynne Cox, a wonderful book just selected as Malibu’s One Book, One City, Book of the Year for 2007.
