Restaurant company Chipotle Mexican Grill and hospital group Kaiser Permanente donated to United Way—one of the nonprofit organizations working to provide relief to those affected by the numerous fires in California, including the Camp, Hill and Woolsey fires.

After hosting a fundraiser, the restaurant company Chipotle Mexican Grill made a $380,000 donation to the organization.

A total of 154 Chipotle restaurants—located in the Sacramento and Greater Los Angeles areas—participated in the Nov. 17 fundraiser; 50 percent of pre-tax sales went toward United Way.

The company also provided meals at the American Red Cross of Los Angeles Emergency Operation Center.

In a statement provided by the restaurant chain on Monday, Dec. 3, Chief Communications Officer Laurie Schalow said, “We hope this donation to the United Way’s California wildfire recovery efforts helps individuals and families impacted by some of the worst wildfires in our state’s history to re-establish their lives and rebuild.”

Kaiser Permanente donated $500,000 to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and an additional $150,000 to the Ventura County Community Foundation.

“The devastation has saddened us deeply as we keep hearing about heartbreaking losses and the emotional toll that it’s understandably taken,” KP Southern California President Julie Miller-Phipps said in a statement shared with the media. “With many people beginning the long process of starting over, we’re honored to be able to work with our community partners to assist in the recovery during this critical time.”

The group is offering three support groups to help those affected by the Borderline Bar and Grill mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, and to those affected by the wildfires.

The groups are held in Thousand Oaks, Ventura and Woodland Hills. For more information, call 805.449.3442.
