Point Dume Club resident Elinor Kruzic died Oct. 29 under hospice care at Berkley East, a UCLA facility in Santa Monica. She succumbed to complications from pneumonia following hip surgery. Kruzic was 89.

Kruzic lived in California for more than 67 years. Her husband of 44 years, Marion “Mud” Kruzic, died in 1983. She was a homemaker; active in community work in Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and Malibu, and a teacher. Kruzic was also a volunteer for such organizations as the American Red Cross at Pepperdine University.

Kruzic was born Elinor Calista O’Connell in 1917 in Marysville, Mont. Her parents were Adeline and Richard O’Connell. She attended high school and two years of college in Helena, Mont. In 1939, Kruzic came with her husband to Santa Monica, where he worked for many years with McDonald-Douglas Aircraft. They raised four children.

Kruzic was an active member for many years of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and performed work on many occasions.

Kruzic is survived by her sons, Kenneth of Malibu, Keith of Venice, Brian of Menlo Park; her daughter, Pamela of Washington D.C.; her daughter-in-law, Nora; her son-in-law, David Zoellner and her grandchildren, Olivia and Michael Zoellner. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard and Merle.

A memorial service is scheduled to take place at Our Lady of Malibu, located at 3625 Winter Canyon Road, on Saturday at 11 a.m. It will be followed by a celebration of her life at the Point Dume Club, located at 29500 Heathercliff Road, at 12:45 p.m.
