Seek better energy sources

In addition to environmental and safety concerns, the natural gas delivered to the proposed Cabrillo Port LNG Facility has to be frozen to -260 degrees to liquefy it for transport, while upon arrival it is heated back up to return it to a gaseous state. Fully 40% of the energy is lost in these cooling and reheating processes, all the while heating and polluting the environment. This is a wasteful and inappropriate use of a natural resource.

While Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia have great stores of natural gas which they are eager to profit from by exporting it to the U.S., more work needs to be done to come up with a less wasteful process, more respectful of our environment.

In addition, while efforts are being made to reduce pollution at the LNG facility, the diesel driven ships delivering the gas to the proposed facility have no emission controls whatsoever, and would greatly contribute to our pollution. Big ships use on average as much energy per hour as the average household uses in one year. Without pollution controls!

So thanks for asking, and while you get to work on these issues, we need to look into alternative sources of energy. We can do better.
