Annette Leslie (Seifert) Cook, of Malibu, died Dec. 29, 2012 at the age of 48 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was married to Stanley William Cook, and was the mother of three sons, Grayson William, 14, Chase Clayton, 13, and Preston Thomas, 8.

Cook was born in Sheboygan, Wis., on April 2, 1964 to Lester and Bonney (Thomas) Seifert. She was first runner-up to Miss Teen Wisconsin in 1981 and graduated from Kiel High School in 1982. Cook attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton.

In 1994, Cook founded Barefoot Dreams, a manufacturer of luxury blankets and loungewear. Shortly after launching Barefoot Dreams, she met Stan, whom she wed on Sept. 27, 1997 in Los Angeles. Together, the two continued to grow and develop the company in Malibu.

The joys of Cook’s life were her husband and their three sons, who provided her with constant love and inspiration. Barefoot Dreams allowed her to achieve her dream of being able to stay home with her children and teach them the importance of a strong work ethic and the sense of family as priority.

Cook is survived by her husband and sons; brother, Michael Seifert and his wife Laurie of Madison, Wis.; sister, Pamela Seifert Twohig of Mequon, Wis.; brother, Thomas Seifert and his wife, Karen, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother, David Seifert and his wife, Sandra, of Sheboygan, Wis.; and sister, Jane Seifert Curley and her husband, Michael, of Cape Cod, Mass.; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Copes of Burbank; brother-in-law, Steven C. Cook and his wife, Ivy, of Glendale, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Bonney Seifert; her father-in-law, Clayton R. Cook; and her stepfather-in-law, Wilson B. Copes.
