Three races meant a trio of top finishes for swimmer Jordan Wilimovsky.

The 24-year-old swam off with two gold medals and one silver medal at the Aug. 9-14 Pan Pacific Championships in Japan.

Wilimovsky, a 2012 graduate of Malibu High and 2016 Olympian, won the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle race on the first day of the Far East swimming competition and finished victorious in the men’s 10-kilometer open water race on the last day.

He placed second in the men’s 800-meter freestyle on Aug. 12.

The 2015 open water world champion won the open water match on Aug. 14 at Hojo Beach in Tateyama in one hour, 58 minutes, 50.5 seconds.

Eric Hedlin of Canada held the lead for most of the race, but Wilimovsky swam ahead of the Canadian in the final lap and finished the contest first. Hedlin finished second in 1:58.56.7 and Australian Nicholas Sloman placed third in 1:59.20.8.

Wilimovsky won the 1,500-meter five days earlier at the Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center in Japan’s capital in 14:46.93. His American teammate Zane Grothe finished second. The victory moved Wilimovsky to fourth in the event’s world rankings.

The former MHS athlete posted a time of 7:45.19 in the 800-meter, also held in Tokyo, 1.45 seconds behind Grothe, who claimed gold in the race.

The Pan Pacs take place every four years. This month, the championships featured men and women swimmers from 17 different nations hitting the water in various backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, medley and open water competitions.

The United States finished the six-day championships with 20 medals, tops among the participating countries. The quadrennial spectacle will be in Canada in 2022.

Wilimovsky won the United States Open Water National 10K title in May for the third time in four years. The win qualified him for the Pan Pacs. He also won the 1,500-meter in 14:48.89 at the U.S. Swimming Championships on July 25.

The swimmer was the first American to qualify for the Olympic Games in both open water and pool swims, in 2016.
