From beach clean ups to an Olympic event for little ones, there’s plenty to do around town this weekend.

This Saturday, the California Coastal Commission and Heal the Bay host the 27th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day. Cleanups are taking place at more than 800 sites throughout the state including beaches, bays, rivers, creeks, parks, roadsides and highways.

Malibu cleanup locations include Leo Carrillo State Beach, 35000 W. Pacific Coast Highway, and Malibu Lagoon, 23400 Pacific Coast Highway, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Coastal Commission is asking volunteers to bring their own buckets or reusable bags and gloves to avoid creating more trash.To obtain more information or register for the cleanup, visit www.healthebay.org.

Saturday morning, a “March for Mitrice” takes place, to commemorate the two year anniversary of the day she went missing. Participants will walk from the spot she may have last been seen to the entry of the creek where her remains were discovered, placing balloons along the way. The walk begins at the corner of Las Virgenes Road and Piuma Road, at 7:15 a.m. More information can be obtained by e-mailing drrondahampton@yahoo.com or visiting www.mitrice.org.

Athletes will flock to Malibu on Sunday for the 25th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon, where participants will take a half mile swim, an 18 mile bike ride and 4 mile run, to raise funds for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The event begins at Zuma Beach, 30000 Pacific Coast Highway, at 7:15 a.m. More information can be obtained by calling 818.707.8866.

On Sunday, the City of Malibu’s Tiny Tot Olympic 2011 Games takes place, for children ages two to six. Little athletes can participate in a variety of events, including an obstacle course, t-ball, soccer and moon bounce. The games begin at 12 p.m. at Bluffs Park, 24250 Pacific Coast Highway.
