Gorgeous George Clooney pairs up with Sandra Bullock for a trip into outer space in “Gravity.”

Fall movie time kicks off this week with George Clooney, who is teaming up with fellow Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock in “Gravity.” The two superstars suit up and soar into the heavens only to get lost in space. The film has been described as a “3-D nail-biting thriller that tells the story of the fight to survive.”

Also coming soon is “Runner Runner.” New caped crusader and “Argo” Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck teams up with Justin Timberlake for this gripping tale. The movie was shot in steamy Puerto Rico, with Affleck playing a con man and Timberlake taking on the role of an easy-to-manipulate Ivy League student. Anthony Mackie steps into the role of an FBI agent assigned to take them down. With Affleck and JT, this thriller could be a wild ride.

For hopeless romantics, yet another version of “Romeo and Juliet” is coming to the screen on Oct. 11. It is a sumptuous adapta tion of possibly the Bard’s most famous work. The film was written and produced by “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellows and is sure to draw from his impressive fan base.

Lovable local Tom Hanks is coming to a screen near you in “Captain Phillips.” The story features a heroic captain, Navy SEALs and plenty of pirates. It tells the story of the 2009 hijacking of Captain Phillips’ freighter off the coast of Somalia. The real life drama played out like a movie and now it is one. The film co-stars Catherine Keener and newcomer Barkhad Abdi.

Even at the ripe old age of 77, Hollywood legend Robert Redford is still making flicks. His latest is called “All is Lost.” Like “Gravity,” this too is a tale of survival. Some critics are calling it the most challenging role of Redford’s remarkable career. Very few words are spoken, as Redford plays a man who is struggling to sur vive aboard a sinking sailboat. His performance already wowed the crowds at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Globetrotting family man Brad Pitt returns in “The Counselor.” The all-star cast also includes Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz. Fassbender plays the part of a lawyer sucked into a world of drugs and gets involved with a host of shady characters. It was written by “No Country for Old Men” author Cormac McCarthy.

There’s nothing like a remake, and like it or not… she’s back! A new of adaptation “Carrie,” Stephen King’s thriller about a psycho kinetic teen, opens Oct. 18 and stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore and Judy Greer.

In November, Naomi Watts takes on the tricky role of the People’s Princess in “Diana.” The film also features “Lost” alum Naveen Andrews.

Also coming next month, Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor. This time, the hero must save the planet, and actress Natalie Portman, from intergalactic destruction.

Finally, local Leonardo DiCaprio goes for the money in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Matthew McConaughey also pops up as DiCaprio’s mentor.

So pass the popcorn and get ready for some serious movie time.
