Audrey Lamont died on July 23 after suffering from an illness due to stroke.

Lamont was born in England and remained a proud British subject throughout her life. She was the granddaughter of Sir Titus Salt. She and her family moved to India during World War II and worked in the military notifying families of military deaths. She worked with Mother Teresa to comfort the ill during the battles and famine in India. She met her husband, Jerry Lamont, a colonel in the U.S. Air Force, and the two were married six months to the day of their meeting. They had two children and lived in India during the Raj.

Lamont was an avid rider and horse owner. She and her husband’s horses won many races. They enjoyed different cultures and traveled extensively throughout the world.

Lamont later moved with her family to Stamford, Conn. where she had two more children.

Lamont enjoyed playing tennis. She was a champion and played against many greats, including Billy Jean King. Lamont was a supporter and activist for underprivileged children, and introduced them to tennis through the National Junior Tennis League. She was a champion at the Stamford Yacht Club and West Side Tennis Club in Forrest Hills, N.Y. She later moved to New Cannan, Conn. and was a member of the Woodway Country Club.She made life long friends in Connecticut and Naples, Fla.

Lamont’s family described her as “a glamorous and passionate wife and mother, who was very involved in her children’s lives.” They added that they will remember her for her wit and wisdom.

Lamont retired in Malibu to be close to some of her many grandchildren and children.

Lamont is survived by her children, Rosemary Williams and her husband John Hall, Jack Lamont and his wife Susan Lamont, Chris Lamont, Elizabeth and her husband Tom Alesio and her grandchildren, Rory, Gunnar, Dax, Jonathan, Kelly and Harry. She is also survived by her brother Wendell Tatam of Sydney, Australia and his family.

Lamont was a member of Our Lady of Malibu Church.

The memorial service will take place in Connecticut However, a local service will take place in late August at Our Lady of Malibu Church.
