Adamson House, Lagoon Museum granted funds
The Adamson House and Malibu Lagoon Museum were given a $5,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation on Oct. 1.
The funds will be used to restore parts of the 1930s house that have suffered deterioration.
The Spanish style house has been owned by the state since the 1970s.
The Malibu Lagoon State Beach Interpretive Association opened it to the public in 1983.

Road construction to end next month
The road maintenance on Malibu Canyon Road is scheduled to be finished by the end of December, according to Los Angeles County Public Works Spokesperson Gary Boze.
Boze said the construction should be done when scheduled, “assuming there are no major delays based on weather.”
The resurfacing project to repair unsatisfactory spots of the road is taking place weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and has been causing traffic delays up to 20 minutes.
Caution urged to avoid fires
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection warns citizens to be cautious this holiday season in order to avoid fires while cooking. In order to avoid fires, make sure cooking food is never left unattended and that an adult is always present while cooking. In addition, turkey fryers should always be used outdoors at a safe distance from structures, and a fire extinguisher should be nearby at all times.
Thanksgiving is the leading day for home cooking fires, with three times more fires occurring than on the average day, according to the National Fire Protection Association. On Thanksgiving in 2009, Cal Fire crews responded to more than 600 fire-related incidents.
Offices closed this week
