The Malibu High School girls soccer team continued their playoff run last week, defeating Mammoth and San Jacinto high schools on their way to the semifinals.

The Sharks dominated opponents in league play, earning an undefeated 9-0-1 record and Frontier League title. In the opening round of playoffs, the Sharks easily defeated Yucca Valley High School, 6-0.

Malibu returned to action for the second round of playoffs last Wednesday, traveling all the way to Bishop to face Mammoth. Despite snow and a five-hour bus ride the day before the Sharks had little trouble defeating Mammoth, 3-0. The Sharks saw goals from Kristiana Konkol, Dakota Gross and Kate Klevit, and a shutout from goalie Maddie Clarfield.

The victory over Mammoth propelled the Sharks to the quarterfinals, where they faced San Jacinto at home on Friday. Malibu once again steamrolled its opponent on its way to a 6-0 victory. Konkol and Claire Haft each had two goals, and Caysie Beetley and Gigi Wooller added one apiece. Clarfield had six saves to earn her third shutout of the playoffs.

With the two victories last week, the Sharks moved on to the semifinals, where they faced Ontario Christian High School at home Tuesday after this paper went to print. A victory Tuesday would give the Sharks a shot at the CIF Division 6 Championship, where they would face the winner of the Desert Christian/ St. Margaret game.
