Beverly Ann (Endicott) Rubenacker passed away on the morning of March 17 at Sunrise Senior Living in Thousand Oaks. She was 85.
Rubenacker was born on July 2, 1929 in St. Louis, Ill. She was the oldest daughter of James and Garnet (Campbell) Endicott and graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School in 1947.
Although she received a music scholarship to Evansville, she declined to instead marry the love of her life, Clarence Charles “Dutch” Rubenacker of Mount Vernon, Ill. They married in California on Dec. 3, 1947 and made Southern California their home.
Beverly loved to sing, was a member of the Roger Wagner Chorale and once sang at the Hollywood Bowl. Beverly was a member of the choir of Our Lady of Malibu Church for over 25 years.
Beverly received a degree in English from California State University, Los Angeles and was a fifth and sixth grade teacher for 19 years at various elementary schools in Los Angeles, retiring as the computer teacher from Le Conte Junior High.
“Beverly took great pride in her family,” a loved one shared. “She loved spending time with her grandchildren, whether it was reading or singing to them, or trips to the park or picking them up with granddad from soccer practice. She had the wonderful trait of quickly assessing the room for who needed a warm smile or a thoughtful word to make them feel at ease.”
She was visited daily by Dutch and often by her children and grandkids.
She is survived by Dutch, her husband of 67 years; children Deborah (Rubenacker) Sunyich and husband Glen, and grandson Jeffrey; John Rubenacker and wife Kathryn; Rebecca (Rubenacker) Toland and husband Brent and grandchildren Jordan, Jacob and Michaela; brother James Endicott and wife Lynda; sister Marjorie (Endicott) Phillips and husband Garland.
A service celebrating Beverly’s life will take place at Our Lady of Malibu Church at 11 a.m. on Fri., March 27. A rosary service will take place at the same location on Thurs., March 26 at 7 p.m. Beverly will be interned at Holy Cross Cemetery.
