A woman found dead off of Pacific Coast Highway near Point Dume last October was confirmed to have died by suicide, per an autopsy report released by the LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
The woman, who was found in a decomposed state on Oct. 5, was identified as 32-year-old Maeva Sarramona. A toxicological exam conducted this month indicates “the presence of toxic-lethal levels of alprazolam.” Alprazolam, a controlled substance known more commonly as Xanax, is used to manage anxiety and panic disorders. The cause of death was an intentional over-ingestion of the drug.
A gardener first discovered Sarramona in a field behind a restaurant, according to the report. At the time, a French passport was located on the scene. A friend of Sarramona who was interviewed by investigators stated the deceased was “travelling to California for a vacation.”
