Measure M voting information
City of Malibu voters on Nov. 4 will have an opportunity to vote on Measure M, an ordinance approving a development agreement between the City and the Malibu Bay Company/Ioki Partners, which owns property in the Civic Center, Point Dume and western Malibu.

Riordan to be honored with Free Spirit Award
Former L.A. mayor and Gov.-elect Schwarzenegger’s new transition team member, Malibu resident Richard J. Riordan will be honored with California Wildlife Center’s 2003 Free Spirit Award on Nov. 13. Pepperdine’s ‘Excellence in Education’ award
The International Academy of Mediators (IAM) awarded Pepperdine University School of Law its first annual “Excellence in Education” at the University’s prestigious Masters Forum on Friday. The IAM Award is in recognition of the university’s contributions to the dispute resolution field.
Delays expected on
Topanga Canyon
Public Works says to expect significant delays on Topanga Canyon Boulevard Oct. 20 – Nov. 26 during replacement of an existing water main with a 16-inch steel pipe. Construction work typically takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Chumash event at Malibu Stage Co.
A night of traditional Chumash dancing, music and storytelling by local Chumash descedants is planned for Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Malibu Stage Company. The program will include entertainment by Alan Salazar, Dennis Garcia, Redstar and many others, inspired by Chumash traditions from long ago.

Hazardous household waste clean-up event
A hazardous household waste clean-up event is scheduled for Dec. 13 at 23519 Civic Center Way in the rear parking lot. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and is for all L.A. County residents.
Residents can bring 15 gallons or 125 pounds of material per vehicle. Do not mix materials together. Keep items in their original containers. Residents are required to leave the containers at the collection site.
Materials accepted are: Brake fluid, paint (all types), paint thinner, turpentine, cleaners with acid or lye, pesticides, herbicides, household batteries, car batteries, pool chemicals, motor oil, oil filters and expired medicines. Also accepted are household electronics such as computer monitors, televisions, computer CPUs keyboards, printers, cellular phones, etc.
The following will be accepted: Hazardous waste or electronics waste from businesses, explosives, ammunition or radioactive material; trash, tires, white goods (refrigerators, stoves, etc.). For further information, call 888.CLEANLA or visit www.888CleanLA.com.
