Actress Téa Leoni, one of Malibu Times Magazine’s first covers, has a new political gig.

FROM MALIBU TO THE BELTWAY

Blonde beauty Téa Leoni is a familiar face to Malibu, but now the celebrated actress is drawing rave reviews for her work in Washington.

Téa, one of Malibu Times Magazine’s first cover stories, now stars on the new CBS series “Madam Secretary.”

The series follows a smart, former CIA operative who has given up the political world for teaching, a farmhouse and family.

She is called upon to return to Washington when the current secretary of state is killed in a plane crash. As Elizabeth McCord, Téa is a reluctant warrior, but tackles the assignment on her own terms. She butts a few heads along the way and dances to her own tune. Seen entering the White House in the throes of a hostage crisis, she successfully helps secure the release of American teens in Syria and as the weeks go by, she moves from one hotbed issue to another.

If you miss some meaty television in the spirit of “The West Wing,” give Téa and her new show a try.

MALIBU CONGRATS ALL AROUND

Best wishes to another Malibu Times Magazine cover girl. Funny lady Fran Dresher is now a married lady.

With about 60 pals in attendance, Fran married scientist Shiva Ayyadurai at their beachfront home. The groom was a vision in white, sporting a crisp Ralph Lauren suit. Fran, meantime, was all smiles in a bright red Badgley Mischka dress and carried a beautiful bouquet of fresh orchids.

Following the ceremony, the couple cut their sumptuous, rose covered cakes and laughed the day away.

The two met a little over a year ago when Dr. Shiva spoke at an event hosted by Deepak Chopra. One thing led to another, and, before you knew it, there were “I dos” by the sea.

Fran shared her joy on Twitter with a beaming photo.

POWER OF TWO

There are more big moves for Malibu’s dynamic duo, mega-producer Mark Burnett and his beautiful and talented wife, Roma Downey.

He is the man behind mega-hits like “The Voice” and “Survivor” and she is familiar to many for her work on “Touched by an Angel.” Recently, the two teamed up for the television miniseries, “The Bible,” which delivered blockbuster ratings.

These two are in demand indeed, and they don’t plan on stopping now. They now have a studio to call their home. MGM has acquired a major stake in the pair’s two production companies.

The studio is reviving the old United Artists (UA) label to work with the One Three Media and LightWorkers Media production companies.

With Mark and Roma at the helm, UA will focus on development and production in various forms, from films to television and digital content.

“I am honored to become the CEO of United Artists Media Group,” Mark says. “Together, we look forward to growing our business while creating a whole new platform of entertainment.” Stay tuned!
