Coastal permit appealed
The Malibu Planning Division received word March 7 that coastal development approval of an application for a 10,953-square-foot home on Sea View Drive was appealed by Malibu Park Homeowners Association President Marshall Thompson.
The project had received administrative approval, which meant that it was approved by the Planning Department without needing further approval by the Planning Commission. The item was placed on the commission’s agenda on March 7, only so the commission could receive and file the administrative approval. According to the Local Coastal Program, applications receiving administrative approval are appealed to the Planning Commission for a hearing. The commission’s decision can be further appealed to the City Council, and some projects can be put before the California Coastal Commission for a final decision.
At Monday’s meeting, the Planning Commission received and filed an administrative coastal development permit approval for an application to build a 16-foot by 40-foot swimming pool at a home on Pacific Coast Highway
