Hollywood heartthrob home for sale

Leonardo DiCaprio, who turned 34 this month, has listed his contemporary Malibu home for $9 million. The home, which he bought in 2006 for $6.35 million, sits on the bluffs above the Pacific with a stairway that leads to the beach cove below. The main house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 2,374 square feet. The master bathroom has marble fixtures and a steam shower. A separate guesthouse has two one-bedroom suites. There is a four-car garage, a large, grassy area and a small pool.

DiCaprio, dubbed this year’s fifth-highest-paid actor in Hollywood by Forbes magazine, was named one of the “most influential” people in the world by Time magazine. News accounts say DiCaprio is weary of the constant fan clamor and paparazzi and would welcome some peace.

Home of hip-hop tycoon sold

The Malibu house of hip-hop mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was sold Nov. 21 in bankruptcy court for $4.56 million, according to Eric Israel, the attorney representing the Chapter 11 trustee for Knight. The 8,272-square-foot house had been listed for sale by Knight last year at $6.2 million. The property was sold “as is.”

The house, built in 2001, is a seven-bedroom, 9 1/2-bathroom Mediterranean with ocean views. It sits on 8.76 acres on a knoll above La Costa and Carbon beaches. The gated property also has a pool and tennis court.

Knight was the founder and chief executive of Death Row Records. The label and Knight filed for bankruptcy protection in April 2006. Jon Saver of Prudential Malibu Realty represented the buyer. The property was listed by Paul Grisanti and Scott Cameron of Coldwell Banker-Malibu East, according to the MLS.

Surfboard signing

Pierce Brosnan, Cindy Crawford and Perry Ferrell of Jane’s Addiction are among the celebrities who have autographed a surfboard to raise construction funds in a holiday online auction for the Malibu Legacy Park Project.

“We’d love as many of Malibu’s luminaries as possible to sign the surfboard,” said Susan Shaw Noble, the city’s capital campaign coordinator, who noted the board will be available for autographing seven days a week. “The surfboard is a perfect symbol of one of the many significant benefits of Legacy Park, and that’s to reduce ocean pollution impacts at Surfrider Beach.”

The board is on display at Zuma Jay Surf Shop, 22775 PCH, where it can be autographed and viewed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. only, Monday through Sunday. The deadline for autographs is this Sunday. The online auction details will be released at a later date. More information can be obtained by calling 310.924.2824.
