Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu was clear Saturday night following a series of incidents that had the highway shut down in both directions in Western Malibu near Paradise Cove for close to five hours Saturday afternoon.

According to Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriffs, a temporary closure of the outside eastbound lane of PCH at Latigo Shore Drive occurred at 12:30 p.m. Saturday as L.A. County Fire came to the aid of an injured bicyclist.

Approximately 10 minutes later, at 12:40 p.m., all westbound traffic and one lane of eastbound traffic on PCH between Zumirez Drive and Paradise Cove was halted when a Toyota Prius and L.A. County Fire truck collided.

The highway closure was extended to include closure of all lanes in the area when another collision occurred around 1:45 p.m., this time between an L.A. County Fire Department paramedic truck and a Nissan Sentra. That closure also expanded the area of highway cordoned off farther east, with the closure spanning from Zumirez Drive to Meadows Court.

The accidents, according to sheriffs, resulted in at least two injuries, with victims airlifted to a local hospital.

It is not clear at this time whether the two traffic collisions were related.

Finally, at approximately 5:10 p.m. Saturday, sheriffs announced the reopening of the roadway.
