A dog rescued from the Thomas Fire by a good Samaritan is taken to Dr. Lupo at the Malibu Vet Clinic for treatment.

Dr. John Lupo at the Malibu Vet Clinic confirmed they are accepting donated items for all kinds of animals rescued in the ongoing wildfires, including animal accessories that are in good shape, like dog and cat bowls, beds, blankets, food, equine supplies and tack (English/Western); as well as medical supplies and gift cards to pet supply stores such as Petsmart and Petco. Any such donations can be brought in during normal office hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and placed in the drop box provided.

Clinic staffers Liz Poffley and Scarlet Walker are taking the donations on a regular basis to the local Humane Society, which is helping fire rescued animals from the Thomas Fire and other wildfires.

“We need items for large and small animals, including horses,” Dr. Lupo said.

Lupo treated a dog rescued from the Thomas Fire on Monday that was brought in by a “good Samaritan.”

“I can treat them, and we have been doing that,” he said, “but we don’t have a lot of space to keep animals here—just enough for a few small dogs and cats.”
