Caltrans shared this photo of mudflow due to Monday's rainfall.

All lanes on Pacific Coast Highway, from Las Posas to Trancas Canyon roads, were closed due to “significant mud and rockslides” after 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, per a Caltrans spokesperson.

Residents with proper identification will be allowed into the area “as long as it’s safe.” California Highway Patrol is also on the scene.

The mud flows as rain continues to fall—the National Weather Service predicted about 1-1.5 inches of rain for the Malibu area through Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Expected moderate to heavy rainfall from Tuesday through Thursday could amount to 2-4 inches of rain for the area with gusty winds.

The NWS also issued a flood advisory for western Los Angeles and Ventura counties (including Woolsey Fire burn areas such as Malibu) until 9:30 a.m. Monday.

One westbound lane of PCH at Leo Carrillo was briefly closed for debris removal and has since been reopened. Decker Road continues to remain closed from PCH to upper Mulholland Highway due to weather conditions. There is no estimated reopen time.

A high surf advisory is in place through Tuesday at 9 p.m. Beachgoers are advised to exercise caution due to strong lateral and rip currents. Visit weather.gov for the latest information on conditions.
