The fiction list is wild with exciting new stories. Malibu-raised T Cooper’s second novel, “Lipshitz Six, or Two Angry Blondes” is at the top of the list, following a book signing in Malibu last week. New to the list are a few much-anticipated novels from Dave Eggers, Robert Crais and Norman Mailer.
The nonfiction list this month includes author and Skyhook scholar Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at No. 1, and Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret” exponentially multiplying in the No. 2 spot. The highly anticipated paperback releases of “Eat, Pray, Love” and Joan Didion’s “The Year of Magical Thinking” are selling briskly. And rounding out the list is Malibu’s One Book, One City selection, “Grayson,” by Lynne Cox (coming to Malibu April 7).
For children’s titles, the censorious have unintentionally brought a powerful spotlight to the strangely controversial book “The Higher Power of Lucky,” catapulting it onto best seller lists nationwide. And two wonderful new books, the pop-up “Dog” and the novel “The Invention of Hugo Cabret,” put imagination where it belongs at the head of any children’s best seller list.
